Theme: Caring for the People

At Transportation Conference 2023 we will share and discuss all of the ways that we care for people and our communities by working to improve health and wellbeing. To do this we will explore how transport contributes to the four dimensions of the Te Whare Tapa Whā model.

The Te Whare Tapa Whā model provides an interconnected perspective for us to think about holistic health (Hauora). The model describes the whare as having four walls, and each wall represents a different dimension of health. All four walls are needed for the house to be strong.

Abstracts that align with the main theme of ‘Caring for the people’ and the four sub-themes below are now open for submission:

  1. Taha tinana (physical health)

  2. Taha hinengaro (mental and emotional well-being)

  3. Taha whānau (social well-being)

  4. Taha wairua (spiritual well-being – personal beliefs)

If the four walls of the whare are strong and well, then the people are strong and well.
